James Mastraieni

James Mastraieni is the founder and director of The Shared Experience Studio.  He’s been deeply passionate about comedy since middle school and has over 20 years of professional experience. 

 

He’s toured with Second City, performed regularly at UCBLA and iOWest, and created popular LA comedy shows like “I’m Too Effing High” “How I Met Your Sitcom” “Outside Dog Gets One Star” and “The Shared Experience Show.” 

 

As a writer, he’s contributed to Comedy Central, Funny or Die, and wrote for the sitcom, “Florida Girls.” 

 

With 20,000+ hours coaching improv and sketch, James has taught at UCB, iOWest, Second City and The Beverly Hills Playhouse. He’s directed 15 Harold teams and has coached dozens of ensembles and performers. He also served on casting committees at iOWest, UCBLA, and was a talentet evaluator at the Hollywood Improv. He’s also taught in various places all over the world and is currently an improv and collaboration teacher for the United States Army. 

 

James specializes in demystifying the craft and providing an organized and pragmatic framework towards comedy that is universal and timeless. 

 

He founded The Shared Experience Studio to foster a community for comedy lovers and help performers align their art with their standards. â€‹
