CLASSES

The Shared Experience Studio separates itself from other comedy schools by turning away from broadly packaged assembly line style classes of the past and turning towards hands on instruction and mentorship. Led by founder James Mastraieni's 25,000 hours of experience teaching comedy, the studio offers an organized framework that combines traditional comedy theories with the nuance of theater acting. Our guiding principle is "the shared experience" which highlights the abstract connective tissue that exists between performer and audience.

The Shared Experience Diversity Scholarship
The Shared Experience Diversity Scholarship is designed to increase access to improv training for performers who are underrepresented in our community such as those who identify as Black, Indigenous, people of color, LGBTQ+, Disabled etc.,.
While anyone who meets the criteria is welcome to apply, scholarships are limited. Not all applicants will be selected.
What the Scholarship Includes...
Recipients receive 50 percent off one approved class through a personalized discount code.
Drop-in classes are not included.
How It Works....
We run the scholarship in three-month cycles throughout the year.
• Fill out the application form
• If selected, receive 50 percent off your selected class
• Awards are limited each cycle
Once all available scholarship spots are filled for that cycle, applications will close until the next round.
Our Approach
We review applications each cycle based on financial need, representation, and current availability in our classes.
This structure allows us to offer support where it is most needed while keeping our programs sustainable. It also helps us prioritize classes with available space and continue creating opportunities for both new and returning performers.
HOW to Apply
Applications close July 1st https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeuUe-Rz8O8sL5H0t-aTBbD_MJju85FuNT2FODUi6qsY5qaaQ/viewform?usp=publish-editor
