EMOTIONAL HEIGHTENING

Do you ever find yourself stuck in a scene that was working, but now you're unsure of how to heighten the funny game? What's often missing and difficult in improv scenes is emotional heightening: finding real, relatable emotions and heightening them to absurdity. In this workshop, we will learn about the psychology of emotions, how emotions evolve over time, and non-verbal communication with Clinical Psychologist Dr. Amanda Cassil, and then put that emotional knowledge to work in improv scenes with Improv Teacher Ben Cassil. By the end of the workshop, you'll have a better grasp on identifying and heightening emotions for improv comedy. Instructors: Ben Cassil and Dr. Amanda Cassil Dr. Amanda Cassil (she/her) is a Clinical Psychologist and the founder of STEM Psychological Services. She is the author of The Empowered Highly Sensitive Person and The Self-Care Plan for the Highly Sensitive Person, and host of the podcast Practicing Failure. Ben Cassil (he/him) is an improv instructor, coach, and performer. He has been improvising for 14 years, with training from WE Improv and UCB.
